in response to shorty3030...Depending on your source of income, you may qualify for government subsidized housing. Are you currently receiving any government assistance now? Is the father of your children involved? I helped a lady in a similar situation find a government subsidized apartment years ago. The waiting list was long but she finally got in. Take care and God Bless!
in response to bizzy123...Hello. Do you qualify for any government assistance and have you checked with the utility company for any special deals to keep your heat going for the winter? Take care and God Bless!
in response to jkern2c...My thoughts and prayers go out to you. Wow - I wish I knew what to say and other more profound ways to help. Posting your thoughts and feeling might help with the pain. You are in a different place than most and will find your way to solid ground. Continue to keep God close and He will guide you. May God Bless.
in response to JayR...Hello ... do you know how much work is needed? If not, try to get a free exam. This will help to better understand everything that is needed. God Bless!
in response to kk8585...Welcome to college life:) I have a handful of friends with crazy - get by on whatever - college stories. It's tough to work and attend college, and I commend you for the effort. Financial aid is good for tuition and perhaps a few books, but that is it. I wish you the best. Take care and God Bless!
in response to jkern2c...Hi Joe - wow, you have my thoughts and prayers. I am surprised that scout leaders did not know basic CPR even after a few drinks. This is definitely a cause for investigation with the ultimate goal to prevent future tragedies. Your son will live on with your family and rest in heaven. I see someone suggested church as an option, and I would suggest the same. Churches may not only help financially but more important, spiritually. Please do not feel as if you are burden on them or anyone for that matter. I typically help people restructure debt to get back on their feet. Unfortunately, I feel lost on how to help but have handful of resources that might be of help. Have you applied for any government assistance? May God Bless.

in response to raiders19...You are faced with an interesting situation ... pay a bunch to fix your teeth or pay much less to get dentures. If you want to retain your teeth and go forward with repairs, consider dental schools. Dental schools might be a good source for a bunch of work. You will still need to pay but the overall costs should be a fraction of the a typical quote. Since you have already been evaluated, keep a list of all things needed - this will help to receive more accurate quotes. In fact, you should be able to phone around for quotes knowing exactly what is needed. One more thought - consider Mexico!:) The dental costs in Mexico is a fraction of the fees in the US. Take care and God Bless!
in response to halfpintstar...$78 over poverty ... wow, that stinks. I applaud you for going after your GED - that is great! Keep up the good work - you can do it! Buying a small business can be a big undertaking and demonstrates your entrepreneurial spirit. Depending on the business, you might be able to find an investor to fund the project. Take care and God Bless!
in response to LDKC...Hello ... wow - sounds like you are really trying. First, I think it stinks that your husband is retired Navy and without coverage. I have helped a handful of teachers establish budgets and free themselves from debt over time. Some teachers do better than others depending on the school district. Nonetheless, you are in an odd situation because you make too much for your son to qualify for grants, etc. although you do not make enough to pay for all the basics plus college. I suspect you claim you son on your taxes? If so, consider not doing so. By claiming your son, your son is unable to claim himself. If he claims himself, he may stand a much better chance to receive pell grants, etc. providing he does not make a significant amount of money:) Take care and God Bless!
in response to UBstudent...Have you looked into pell grants and scholarships? If nobody is claiming you on their taxes, you might be in good shape to qualify for a grant although given the timeline, you might be too late. Contact your schools financial aid office for additional suggestions. God Bless!
in response to GHLMEPLS...Ouch ... depending on where you live, this is not a good time of the year to loose your heat:) In certain parts of the country, utility companies will grant hardship awards which will either defer your payment or credit your account. Take care and God Bless!
in response to cornstarch...Hi cornstarch ... step one is to create a budget to determine how much you can afford to spend vs how much you earn. This process will help you going forward. You may also want to determine how much money is needed to lower your expenses to a manageable level. This is the amount of money you need to raise. Take care and God Bless!
in response to LDKC...You sound like a GREAT mother. Great parents want what is best for their children. College is a good foundation to future financial gain but unfortunately the cost of education is extremely high. Depending on your financial situation, he may qualify for pell grants. If you haven't look into it, please do so. The financial aid office at the school should have some basic information. In addition, consider looking at scholarships (there seems to one for everything:)). One last note - use caution if he plans to seek financial aid through traditional student loans. Student loans can add up and leave him with a large repayment upon graduation. Take care and God Bless!
in response to neworleans...I have begun to question 'land of the free, home of the brave' ... yes, 'home of the brave' but not sure about 'land of the free':) This is a great country but most struggle to pay bills, taxes, etc. Hang in there. If you have income, try to create a budget and work with creditors to lower payments. Take care and God Bless!
in response to C J...Hi CJ ... sounds like you are heading in the right direction!:) I appreciate those who serve our country. Are you certain the service will not address your dental needs? I know a handful of people that had major dental work done after they joined. MEPS gave them the green light during processing and after boot camp, they received the help needed. Take care and God Bless!
in response to ...Does he receive any sort of disability? You might consider checking with local social services as well. Also consider nearby clinics. Take care and God Bless!
in response to amazon01...Unfortunately, you are not alone. I hear from almost daily who struggle to pay bills but yet do not qualify for government assistance. A handful of new clinics have been added to list and I see over 110 in the state of Washington. Try to find a nearby clinic for help. A cavity left untreated can turn into something more costly. Take care and God Bless!
in response to suzzy q...Ouch ... sounds painful. Have you been to a dentist recently? If so, try to get a free evaluation. It is important to get a baseline for what is recommended and then tackle each issue one by one. Take care and God Bless!
in response to rista1966...Sounds like you have your hands full but know that God will not give you more than you can handle. Starting and running a business can be very tough and even tougher in this economy. I feel your daughter as well and feel bullies should be exposed. Ensure to inform the administration at the school for assistance. Schools have all over the country have taken a hard line on bullies. Take care and God Bless!
in response to Chrissyloving...Wow ... you are a great friend for helping and I am surprised the electric company will not waive the reconnection fee. I will keep you in mind if something comes up. Take care and God Bless!
in response to pain and shambles...Hello ... Southern CA is no joke on cost of living:). Try to get a free exam by contacting a local dentist and letting them know that you are looking for a new dentist and would like a free examine if possible. You might be surprised to find that someone might invite you in for a free exam. Dentist want you almost as much as your want them depending on the situation. Take care and God Bless!
in response to shortyred...I have other 60 clinics in the state of GA. A majority of the clinics are around Atlanta and I see it's not too far from Columbus. Are you able to drive or do you have a mean so transportation? If so, consider calling before you go. It is important to know if they can meet your needs and have the room. In addition, consider getting a free evaluation so you know exactly what is needed. Take care and God Bless!
in response to tybees...Hello. My first thought is budget. Do you have a budget and any source of income? Seven dogs require lots of maintenance (food, shots, etc.). Consider checking with local animal shelters for assistance. Since you are willing to care for them, they might be willing to provide shots - just a thought:) Take care and God Bless!
in response to Chrissyloving...Hello ... you are a good friend for posting on her behalf. Does she have any source of income? If so, inform the utility company and seek an exception. Look for local charities as well. Most major cities will have clinics offering emergency funds for situations like this. Take care and God Bless!
in response to dentaldrama...Hi Amanda ... you are in a catch 22:) Unfortunately, I have seen this many times before. Sounds like you have done your research as well. I suspect you have been to a dentist who has advised you to have full extractions, dentures, etc.? If so, nice work. You know what you are facing and have taken a step in the right direction. If not, please visit any local dentist for an eval. Most will offer a free eval so it should not cost you.
Most clinics will offer a sliding scale service but some will offer services completely free. Most clinics will base fees on income and if you make something, you will pay something. Unfortunately, you need something to live on which leaves nothing for the dentist ... starting to sound like a cat in the hat story:) Call, call, and call some more. Call the clinics before you go and be persistent. I have a huge list of clinics and it continues to grow daily since it is now community supported. In addition, check with local churches. Most churches will have a list of good resources, etc. Take care and God Bless!

in response to recon...Hello recon ... hoorahhhh and thank you for your service to this great country:) When in service, I suspect you eat whatever they feed you and further suspect the food is not the healthiest:) Wow - I know the stones must be painful, so hang in there. Are you receiving any retirement pay from the service? I have worked with a handful of vets to establish budgets which seems to help those in need. Take care and God Bless!
in response to kean16...Sounds like you have had your share of challenges ... hang in there. Know that you are not alone and people do care. You are loved by more people than you can imagine. Take care and God Bless!
in response to No Legs...Hello ... sorry to hear you were injured. Have you look into any local clinics? I know many that offer sliding scale fees - most do. Some will give you free care if you have nothing but the waiting can be loooooong:) Take care and God Bless!
in response to sane...I thought the same a year or two back and started a petition:) The petition can be found on my site. Once we receive 10k names, the list will be sent to congress for review. Hopefully this will get much deserved attention from our elected officials.
